Should you tip movers?

Do you know when you tip movers? It's simple: If you are going to give tips, do them in the proper manner. Tip the movers in the etiquette that will make them feel appreciated and valued.

How much should you tip professional movers? The amount depends on many factors including the speed at which they move, how large the items are and the quality of packing and unpacking done by the movers. You can also ask for recommendations from friends, neighbors and colleagues if they have been successful in their moves recently. You may find recommendations useful if you've moved before and you know the ins and outs of doing a move. A simple, good rule for tipping long distance movers is 5% of the total bill for the full round trip mileage. For local movers, give out only 3% as much as they charge for the trip. You shouldn't tip professional movers based on the number of people they shifted or the route they went. It will always depend on the professionalism of the mover. Professional movers generally earn more than unprofessional ones and they know what's going on.

Should you tip long distance movers in other ways? There are a lot of things that you can do to increase your gratuities. Long distance movers are usually entrusted with large and heavy items. They will need time and space to unload these items. So tip them accordingly.

There are some people who believe in tipping according to the service. They believe that this is the fairest way to go about tipping. But most people don't do it altogether. In the end, its your call and any tip amount will always be appreciated.
